Golden September - Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

Who are we?

In Hungary, almost three-quarters of children diagnosed with cancer receive treatment at the Semmelweis Pediatric Center. For nearly 35 years, the Őrzők Foundation has supported the clinic’s healing mission by procuring medical equipment, funding renovations, and creating a child-friendly environment. The foundation also runs ongoing programs such as play therapy and provides accommodations, including family apartments and mother-baby rooms, for families.

Golden September 2024

We aim to introduce this internationally successful charitable initiative to Hungary. Our goal is to raise awareness about the fight against childhood cancer and to support those affected. While we sincerely appreciate and gratefully accept financial contributions, our current focus is on fostering commitment to the cause.

We will share educational, solidarity-driven, inspirational content throughout the month on our website and social media platforms. We will highlight what parents and general practitioners can do to ensure early diagnosis. We need to share that childhood hematological and cancerous diseases have a high recovery rate of 85-90%. To leave a lasting impact in the physical world, we encourage wearing gold ribbons and plan to illuminate Budapest’s iconic buildings in gold, symbolizing solidarity with the children battling cancer and their families.

We aim to include prominent landmarks in the campaign, such as Groupama Arena, MVM Dome, the Chain Bridge, the MOL Campus, and Müpa (The Palace of Arts).

This raises awareness about childhood cancer and demonstrates the company’s dedication to the cause. This year’s campaign aims to support the Clinic’s development plans, including acquiring a cutting-edge X-ray machine. Low-dose X-rays are essential in pediatric oncology, enhancing patient safety and minimizing long-term health risks. Utilizing the latest technologies and standards is crucial for providing effective and safe care.

Join us for a walk along the Danube this autumn!

We are organizing a walk along the Danube on September 28th to wrap up the campaign. This event will allow participants to show their support for children fighting cancer and their families. During the walk, we plan to illuminate the buildings, as mentioned earlier, in gold, marking the event’s highlight.
